2.1 Account Information

When you sign in using Google Authentication, we receive:

Your name and email address (provided by Google)
Your Google profile identifier

We do not receive or store your Google password. Authentication is handled entirely by Google's secure OAuth 2.0 system.

2.2 Chess Game Data from Lichess

When you request training on a Lichess player, we download publicly available game data through the Lichess public API. This data is:

Already publicly accessible to anyone on the internet
Downloaded in compliance with Lichess API terms and rate limits
Used solely for the purpose of training AI models within our platform
Not redistributed, resold, or shared with any third party

2.3 Uploaded PGN Files

If you upload your own PGN (Portable Game Notation) files:

These files are stored securely and associated with your account only
They are never shared with other users or third parties
AI models trained from your uploaded PGNs are private to your account
You may request deletion of your uploaded files at any time

2.4 Usage Data

We collect standard usage information to maintain and improve our services:

Games played on the platform (moves, results, timestamps)
Training jobs requested and their status
Feature usage patterns (anonymized and aggregated)

We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

We use your information for the following purposes only:

Providing our services: Training AI models, running games, generating analysis
Account management: Authentication, session management, account recovery

We do not share your data with advertisers or marketing companies.

We do not share your uploaded PGN files or privately trained models with other users.

We do not access or store your Google password.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure) with the following protections:

Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL)
Database encryption at rest
Access controls limiting data access to essential services only
Regular security reviews and updates

6. Data Retention

Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion request.
Trained AI models: Retained while your account is active. Privately uploaded models are deleted with your account.
Game history: Retained for analysis and improvement features while your account is active.
Usage logs: Aggregated data retained for service improvement. Individual logs retained for up to 90 days.

7. Publicly Available Chess Data

ChessPulse AI processes chess games that are already publicly available through Lichess. This data includes:

Game moves (PGN notation)
Player usernames (public on Lichess)
Game metadata (time control, result, date)
Player ratings (public on Lichess)

This data is publicly accessible under Lichess's open data policies. Our use of this data is for chess analysis and AI training purposes, consistent with the community benefit intent of Lichess's open data initiative.

If you are a Lichess user and wish to have your publicly available game data excluded from our training system, please contact us and we will accommodate your request.

8. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services:

Google Authentication: For secure sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Lichess API: For downloading publicly available chess games. Subject to Lichess's Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Azure: Cloud infrastructure hosting. Subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

We do not integrate with any advertising networks, analytics trackers, or data brokers.

You have the right to:

Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data

Opt-out: Request exclusion of your Lichess game data from our training system

10. Children's Privacy

ChessPulse AI is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Users

Our services are hosted on Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure. If you are accessing our services from outside the hosting region, your data may be transferred to and processed in a different jurisdiction. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your data based on legitimate interest (providing the services you requested) and consent (signing in to create an account).

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
